The world’s first OCR Orienteering race!
Toughest Orienteering is a team race with two members per team that will try to find as many obstacles and collect as many points as possible in the shortest period of time.
Date & Location: 17th of August, 2018. Norrvalla, Vörå, Finland
– Who can find and beat all the obstacle first?
The world’s first OCR Orienteering will be launched in Orienteering’s home country Finland. In the deep forests of northern Finland the teams will fight through obstacles and tough terrain with the compass around the neck until the sunset.
You are competing in teams of 2 people.
There are three classes; Ladies, Gents & Mix.
Who can find and beat all the obstacle first?
The team that brings together most obstacles by beating/finding obstacles or controls in the shortest time wins Toughest Orienteering. It is free choice in which order the obstacles/ controls are taken with the exception that the ramp should be taken as the last obstacle.
Points will be awarded to the team on the obstacles/controls and the score will be varied due to many different aspects such as level of difficulty and availability.
The scoring system will be presented thoroughly in the information mail that will be sent out one week before the event.
Award ceremony takes place on Saturday at 12:00.

Tent: All teams have the opportunity to set up a tent at the site Norrvalla Camping with no extra cost between 17-18 August.
Hotel: You can also book rooms at Norrvallas hotel at a cost of 40 € pp / night. The hotel has a total of 150 beds, so first come first served.
A lunch buffet is included between 13:30 and 15:00.

Free airport shuttle from Vaasa Airport:
To the event – The last flight from Helsinki lands at 14:10 local time. The bus is waiting outside the airport and takes you directly to the event 5 kilometers outside Vaasa in Vårö.
Return bus – 13:00 from the event area in Värö. Everyone who sign up for Saturday’s Race through the Tuffest Orientation Discount Code is placed in an early start-up group before 10:30 so that everyone can returning 13:00 to the airport.
Return bus – 13:00 from the event area in Värö. Everyone who registers for Sunday’s Family through the Tuffest Orientation Discount Code is placed in early start-up group before noon. 10.30 so that everyone comes with the return bus at 13.00 to the airport.
Set GPS on Norrvalla. However, we recommend that you go together to save on the environment.
There is a parking lot at the event area for about 300 cars and costs 5 € per car.
Changing-room & wardrobe:
There are temporary changing-rooms and wardrobes at the event area. The wardrobes will be overseen by our staff but are not locked and secured fully.
Toilets will be available on the event area.
Water and other beverages will be available at the finish line and once during the course. There will also be food & beverage for sale for the audience.
Food will be sold at the event area.
Registration and Team Name?
Registration most be done individually, therefore it´s extra important that you choose the same team name and category to compete in.
What obstacles will be included?
Your team will find out when the starting shot has passed and your team gets the map at the starting line.
Do you need any orienteering skill to participate?
The orienteering will be at base level so you just need to know how to read a map and how a compass works. It will also be a presentation at the race meeting how to use these two units.
If you not manage to complete the obstacle?
Then you not get a stamp or score for the obstacle in the score board. Most points win´s Toughest orienteering and the team gets different points on obstacle depending on the difficulty and the location of the obstacles. You can try the obstacle as many times as you like.
Fast lane or not?
A couple of fast lanes will be included in the competition and you will need to do this to get a stamp/score at that obstacle. You can try the fast lane how many times you like during this competition.
In this competition you have to pass the obstacle to get a stamp/score . So there are no Penalty rounds in this competition.
The volunteers have the power to decide if your team completed the obstacle or not and if your team get a stamp in your scorecard or not.
What´s accepted to bring in to the race?
Clothes/shoes and it is also optional to include a headlight in the pack list. The team is also allowed to bring liquid and nutrition such as energy drinks, gel and bars.
Mobile, GPS watch or any other GPS-based device that can help you with your position are not allow.
Is there any age limit?
Recommended age is 18 years old.
Results and award ceremony?
An official result will be reported at the official award ceremony at 12:00 on Saturday.
